Q.How should my child dress for camp?
A.Wear gym attire, e.g shorts, t-shirt and gym shoes. No flip flops.
Q.Does my child need to bring their diabetes supplies?
A.Yes, bring meter and tests trips.
Q.How often are blood sugars checked?
A.Blood sugars are checked approximately every 45 minutes. Campers will also check
before camp begins and at the end of the camp.
Q.Are snacks provided?
A.Snacks are available for those children that require a snack and to treat hypoglycemia.
Q.What if my child has a food allergy?
A.If your child has a food allergy, you should state the allergy on the medical form and also provide appropriate snacks and or treatment for hypoglycemia.
Q.Is medical personnel on site?
A.Medical staff includes registered dietitians, nurse practitioners, nurses and pharmacists. The majority are diabetes educators.
Q.Can I stay at the site during camp?
A.You are welcome to stay. There will be workshops for parents each day on managing diabetes.
